Have you ever wondered when we, as women will be satisfied that we are being treated equally? Have you ever wondered what it will take to make us feel equal in a man’s world? Have you ever wondered why we do not yet feel equal when many a man, in the west at least, did long ago give up their need to have control over us?
What do you think it would take for us to forgive man for his previous sins against woman? What would it take for us to feel satisfied that man’s previous sins have been paid back in full? What do you think it feels like to be a man in today’s world?
Why is it that we, as women, still struggle to feel empowered, even when we have taken all of the necessary actions to empower ourselves? Why do we, as women, still give our power away to men, even when we work so hard not to? Why is it that we still fight for equality, even when equality is already on the table?
To be equal, is to be the same. To be equal, is to be more like a man. To be equal is to give our feminine power away to men, even when they don’t ask to take it. To be equal is to not be a woman.
Women are intrinsically different to men – that’s what makes us women. We are the yin to their yang, the power to their strength, the wisdom to their force, the beauty to their masculinity. We are the grace to their assertiveness and the love to their pain. We are what keeps a man alive, what drives him in his passion and fuels him in his ambition. We are what holds the flame of light in their darkness and what cajoles his sweetness to the surface. We are what ignites his compassion and holds his power. We are what lights the way when his heart has blackened and what unlocks his soul when he knew not where it was. We are what holds his hand as he learns to feel, as he in turn, holds ours as we shine the light of love.
Man is what gives us strength when we thought we had none. He is what lights us up when we wake up feeling down. What carves a path from the tools in his hand and carries us when we feel we shall fall. He is what opens doors and exerts his power to allow us the space to shine our light so brightly. To allow us to be women, if only we remembered how to be women, in a world that has belonged to man for so long.
And as we continue to try to be men, to match them in force and strength and logic, so too do we give away the true power of who we are. So too do we turn our back on our beauty, our grace and our wisdom. So too do we turn our back on the power that we hold, willingly giving it away to the very men from whom we then strive to take it back from.
As we try to match men in politics, in sexual prowess, in asserting our power upon others, we give away our uniqueness, our gentleness and our femininity. We give away all that would lead a man from his weaknesses and into the light. We give man our power to use in the wrong way, to use to maintain the world that man has already created and which we so desperately fight to change. We allow that power to be used against us as we become more akin to the system that we wish to break free from.
Women have the power to change the world, but only if we choose to do it as women, in all of our beauty, and all of our grace and all of our wisdom. Only if we choose to do it with the divine feminine power that resides within us, with all of our magnificence and all of our love. Only if we choose to light the way with the love that resides within us as we guide man back to the sweetness that resides within him, as we gently cajole it back to the surface.
Women have the power to change the world, but only if we choose to do it with man by our side, as our companion in our journey, instead of our enemy in our fight. Only if we choose to do it with love in our hearts instead of anger in our heads. Only if we choose to do it knowing the strength in our weakness and the weakness in man’s strength.
We, as women, can change the world – but we must do it knowing how to help man to find the wisdom in his strength and the power in his truth. We must do it connected to our hearts and living our truth. We must do it with forgiveness for the past and for all that we believe man to have done.
Women have the power to change the world by choosing to see the beauty in man and the beauty in woman. By choosing to see the power of the unity of man and woman, working side by side, hand in hand, with all of our individual gifts and uniqueness. By choosing to simply step into the individual power of who we are, of who we were born to be, instead of striving to be equal.
Yes, as women we can change the world. But only if we choose to allow the beauty that is us to shine through, whilst allowing the same of another without fear of rejection and repercussion. Only if we choose to be women.
